Postcards from My Montana Kitchen

Happy December, Everyone!

Holiday Cookies, Cocktails, and Thoughtful Gifting.

The snow is on the ground, the tree is decorated and my holiday cards are nowhere close to being ready. This week I want to share with you a series of wonderful recipes to bake, share, and enjoy all season - my Cookies and Cheers Series. Every day on Instagram, I have been posting a recipe perfect for the baking season.

Cookies and Cheers!

Today, I’m sharing a recipe for Chewy Cocoa Molasses Cookies. I first baked these wonderful cookies about 6 years ago. They are filled with spices like ginger, cloves and cinnamon, molasses, and rich cocoa. This recipe is so simple and so easy.

No holiday party is complete without a few libations to share. A few that I will be posting on Instagram are my Cranberry Champagne Cocktail, a Boozy Celtic Coffee, and one of my personal favorites listed below, a Blood Orange Martini. These cocktails are as festive as they are fun to create!

Big Sky Holiday Gift Guide

One special thing I look forward to every year is my Annual Holiday Gift Guide. This year, I focused ONLY on Montana businesses that I love. In my gift guide, you will find artists that I collect, hand-sewn clothing, incredible foods and so much more. No big box stores or billionaires' websites on this gift guide.

Here is the link to the 2025 Holiday Gift Guide. I hope you will check it out and support these local businesses that I love.

Homemade Gifts made with Love

Finally, looking to make a food gift for friends this year? I love a handmade gift, and food makes the most thoughtful gift of all.

Here is my recipe for homemade Irish Cream. It is so delicious that everyone will ask for the recipe:

Ingredients:

2 cups half & half or heavy cream

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 cup Irish Whiskey

1 tsp pure vanilla extract- Wild Montana Vanilla

1 tsp instant espresso powder

1 TBSP chocolate syrup- I used Hershey’s

Method:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer or large bowl. Mix on low speed until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  2. Pour into an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Shake the mixture well before serving.
  3. Add a bow and card, or festive wrapping, and gift a friend or loved one!

See you next time!
